Una Belle Walters, 90, longtime Altus resident, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Mike Suiter officiating. Burial will follow services at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Belle Lankford was born September 5, 1921 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to E. C. “Jack” and Esther Annie (Sims) Lankford. She attended school in Durant, Oklahoma. She married Tim Walters on May 22, 1939 in Durant, Oklahoma. They were married 47 years until Tim’s death in 1986. Belle worked for 19 years as floor supervisor for Wackers and Winns Variety stores. Belle was a devoted member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ; a member of Woodmen of the World fraternal society and served as a Leader of the Camp Fire Girls in Durant. Belle always put others before herself. She was a great mother, grandmother and sister. She loved making others happy with her outstanding humorous personality. Her home was welcome to everyone and always spotless. She was a great seamstress, enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles, enjoyed attending church and church functions, visiting with her friends, traveling with her sister and brother-in-law and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Mary Ella Maze and Edith Daisy Killman; brother, E.C. Lankford and brother-in-law, Tommy Bridge. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Kay Griffee, of Laverne, OK; two granddaughters, Cheryl Brouwer of Oklahoma City, OK; and a granddaughter who was raised like her daughter, Jennifer Jean Speer and husband, Greg, of Altus, OK; four great grandchildren, Michael Speer and wife, Randi, of Altus, OK, Duncan Leon Phillip Brouwer of Oklahoma City, OK, and Matthew Alan and Jayden Wayne Speer, both of Altus, OK; a great great granddaughter, Brayln Jade Speer of Altus, OK; a sister, Thelma Mae Bridge of Norman, Oklahoma and many friends. The Walters Family will greet friends from 6pm to 8pm Thursday evening at Kincannon Funeral Home.
