Ursula E. Tackett, 89, Altus, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Altus City Cemetery.
Ursula Elizabeth Tackett was born March 28, 1926 to ¬¬¬¬¬Herman and Frieda Sill in Berlin, Germany. She graduated high school in Berlin, Germany where she enjoyed swimming on the school team. While in Germany Ursula was held captive in a Russian prison camp during WWII. She married William H. Tackett on March 15, 1954 in Sherbrooke in Quebec, Canada. Ursula worked at Kellwood's as a seamstress from the late 60's to the mid 80's. She was a German Protestant of the Christian belief. Ursula enjoyed dancing, bowling, cooking, crocheting, and listening to the 1940's "Big Band" music. She was also a health enthusiast who walked three miles a day.
Ursula is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Hildegard Kuhn and granddaughter, Amber Murphy. She is survived by a daughter, Gloria Murphy and husband, Tim; a grandson, Jason Etheridge; and a nephew, Wilfred Kuhn.
The Tackett family will greet friends Wednesday evening, October 7, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Kincannon Gathering Room.
