Surrounded by family and friends, our beloved Vicky Deeann Shaw, passed from this life to the next at her home in Blair, Oklahoma on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Kincannon Funeral Home with Rev. Cameron Hudson officiating. Burial will follow services at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Vicky was born on May 29, 1954 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to Victor and Lois (Sadler) Whittington. She was raised in both Grandfield and Altus, Oklahoma.
Vicky was always a hard worker and it was while working at the Bunker Hill Snack Bar that she met the man that would later become her husband, Larry Shaw. After a three year courtship of moonlight fishing trips, camping excursions, and countless other adventures, Vicky and Larry married on January 30, 1976.
On any given summer night, Vicky could easily be found sitting underneath her trees enjoying a campfire and visiting with whomever cared to join her. She loved sandy beaches, sunshine, and going fishing with Larry. Vicky also enjoyed sports, particularly softball, volleyball, and horseshoes. More than anything, Vicky enjoyed watching and playing with her grandchildren, Amos and Creed.
Vicky is survived by her husband Larry of the home; two sons, Wes Shaw and wife Emilie of Blair, Greg Shaw of Blair; one daughter, Kimberly Shaw also of Blair; two sisters, Janice Whittington-Oak of Blair, and Jeanie Steinmetz and husband, Pete of Havre, Montana; four brothers, Don Whittington and wife Marlene of Chehalis, Washington; Arlis Whittington of Blair, Jerry Whittington of Blair, and Kirby Myers and wife Mary of Memphis, TX; two grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
Vicky was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sharon Lavoie; and one brother, Ronald Whittington.
The Shaw family will greet friends Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kincannon Funeral Home. Per Vicky’s request, memorial donations may be made to the Blair Cemetery or Tipton Children’s Home.
