Virginia Louise King

January 10, 1920 — October 4, 2016

Virginia Louise King, 96, Altus, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the English Village Manor. Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Centennial Memorial at Altus City Cemetery with Rev. David Player officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.
Virginia Louise King was born on January 10, 1920 in Calvert, Texas to William Wilson and Bessie Lee Hazel (Isabell) Berry. She was 1 of 14 children. The family left Texas and moved to the Rocky, Oklahoma area when she was still a young girl. Virginia and her family were very musical. She played the piano and guitar, as did most of her brothers and sisters. The children grew up singing in the rural church they attended near their farm. This church is where she met and married Arthur "Jeff" King on February 24, 1937. Family was always a priority and she loved to attend the families yearly summer family reunion. Because the family became so spread out geographically, this was the only time she could see many of them. She was an excellent cook and loved to have her family come over for a big meal, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Dorman Ray King, brothers, Arthur, Wayne, Lewis, Thomas, Sam, Wilson and Sherman Berry, and her sisters, Estelle Thomas and Ollie Cantrell Parks.
She is survived by her son, Larry King and wife, Boni; her daughter-in-law, Louise King; four grandchildren, Rhonda Dusenberry and husband, Robert, John King, Randy King and Jeffrey King; six great grandchildren, Alison, Katy, Keaton, Khloe, Dakota and Hunter; two great great granddaughters, Charley and Georgia; a sister, Emalee Twyford; three brothers, Wayde Berry, Dranon Berry and his wife, Maggie, and Gerrel Berry and his wife, Deb; a sister-in-law, Willie Bell Hurst; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many very special friends including Lisa Love, Michelle Ray, Donna Randolph and Debbie Aguirre of English Village Manor.
