Virginia "Shorty" Washington

d. March 5, 2012

Virginia “Shorty” Washington, went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2012 at the age of 52, after a short battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Broughton officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home. She was born April 10, 1959 to the late Vernon and Cassie Mae (Lewis) Harris in Altus, Oklahoma. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. In the early 80’s, she moved to Louisiana, where she gave birth to her late son, Donal Washington. Shortly after his death, she returned to Altus. She worked as a care giver for most of her life, being employed at English Village Nursing Home, Plantation Village Nursing Care Center, Mays Plus and in home private care. Her most enjoyable times were being with all those she loved dearly, while socializing, dancing, and listening to music. She was always ready to help others, if she wasn’t able, she would give you any and all resources she knew to help. Shorty was a happy, loving sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her caring, sharing, heart and BIG SMILE will be missed the most. Virginia has gone to join her parents; her son; two sisters, Pansy “Lue” Lenard and Tracey Harris; two brothers, Roy Richmond Jr., Clyde Morgan; and several other loved ones. In Gods care she leaves behind four loving sisters, Cassie Graham and husband, Carl, of North Carolina, May Vivian Felder and husband, Arthur, of Birmingham, Alabama, and Daisy Cromier and Winona Owens, both of Altus, Oklahoma; four loving brothers, Vernon Harris, Jr., Dan Harris, and Bennie Harris, all of Wichita, Kansas, and A.H. Harris of Altus, Oklahoma; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, many, many loved ones and friends. Shorty’s outgoing personality and wonderful sense of humor made her a friend to everyone. We love and miss you Virginia “Shorty” Washington, but the Lord loved you more and didn’t allow you to suffer by taking you home! AMEN!!!
