W. David "Dave" Buck

March 10, 1956 — November 30, 2022

After a brief illness, David Buck passed from this life to be with his Lord on November 30, 2022. No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Dave was born to Walter Dwight “Walt” and Elizabeth Fairfield “Betty” Buck on March 10, 1956, in Pittsfield, MA. The family moved to Huntsville, AL, in 1965, where he attended elementary and secondary schools. He graduated from Johnson High School in Huntsville in 1974, with an ROTC scholarship. He graduated from University of Tennessee in June 1978. He entered the Air Force on active duty in May of 1979 to undergo pilot training. He became a pilot instructor on the KC-135 and remained in that capacity until his retirement in June of 1995, with the rank of Major.

After a brief stint in the civilian world, his love of flying brought him to Altus AFB, OK in March of 2001, as a KC-135 instructor for the 97th Air Mobility Wing/97th OpGroup for Flight Safety/CAE, where he was still employed at the time of his passing.

Besides work, Dave found joy in UT Volunteer football (win or lose), any Jimmy Buffett song ever recorded, and road trips with his wife Debi to bible conferences across the country each year.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Debi Fields Buck, of the home; children, Erin Buck Mathes (John) of Lawton, Oklahoma, Matthew Jacob Buck of Denver, Colorado, Christopher Fuerst Buck of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kody Lynn Fields, of Sudan, Texas, and Kacey Fields Grumbles (Dal) of Muleshoe, Texas; a granddaughter, Kynzee Lynn Grumbles of Muleshoe Texas; one sister, Linda Buck Broadhead (John) of Houston; 4 nieces and nephews; and 11 grandnieces and grandnephews. Dave also leaves behind many extended family members, numerous friends, and the entire KC-135 community.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Sudan Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 491, Sudan, Texas 79371 or Shriners Children’s Hospital, Greenville, SC. Online tributes may be made at kincannonfuneralhome.com
