Trudy Combs, 85, Altus, passed away, Monday, March 10, 2014 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services have been scheduled for 10:00 am, Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Altus City Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Kincannon Funeral Home. Waltraud “Trudy” Reiss was born, September 14, 1928, to Adolph and Vera Reiss, in Memel, Lithuania. She attended and graduated from school in Memel, Lithuania. During WWII, she crossed from Lithuania to Bavaria and met Sgt. Wiley Combs. Trudy came to America with Sgt. Combs following the war. Trudy and Wiley were united in marriage on July 4, 1958, in Arcadia, Oklahoma, and to this union three children were born. Trudy gained her citizenship in 1962. The Combs were a military family, moving frequently, and were stationed at Altus Air Force Base in 1959. Following several more moves, the Combs retired in Altus in 1972. Trudy was of the Christian faith. She was a strict German who prized neatness, cleanliness and appreciated the simple things. Trudy loved to work in the yard and garden; she crocheted and knitted. She also adored and bred Pomeranians. Her favorite Pomeranian was named “Snowball” because she was snow white. Trudy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wiley in 2006; seventeen sisters; and two brothers. She leaves behind, two daughters, Loreda DiGiamarino and husband, Randy, of Cordell, OK, Wendy Duty and husband, Ron, of Altus, OK; son, Harold Combs and wife, Kim Hadley-Combs, of Elmer, OK; nine grandchildren, Angela Sanford, of Seattle, WA, Julie Rusyniak and husband Jed, of San Francisco, CA, Dale Glaab and wife Marilyn, of Altus, OK, Tony Glaab of Omaha, NE, Christopher Glaab and wife Rebekah, of Wichita KS, Justin Schumann of Chicago, IL, Brandin Schumann and wife, Monica, of Albuquerque, NM, Harold Combs II and wife, Kativa, of Mangum, OK, Heather Raymond, of Altus, OK; and eleven great-grandchildren.
