Wanda Lee Taylor, 83, Gould, passed away Sunday May 1, 2016 in Hollis. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mark Turvaville officiating. Burial will follow in the Louis Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Wanda was born December 5, 1932 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Luther and Margie Rivers. She attended Louis Hill School. She was married in December of 1948 to Donald Monroe, and to this union two children, Jerry Monroe and Terry Monroe, were born. Don enjoyed country music and had a band for several years. Wanda wrote and recorded one song. Don preceded her in death in 2005. Terry preceded her in death in 1965.
In 1958, Wanda married Hugh Wolff, and to this union two children, Jeff Wolff and Steven Wolff, were born. The air force family traveled extensively, living in Altus, Oklahoma, Hutchinson, Kansas, Sioux City, Iowa, Phoenix, Arizona, and retiring in 1971 in Gould, Oklahoma. Wanda enjoyed fishing. She had great pride in having caught her biggest fish, a catfish that weighed 15 lbs. 9 ozs.
Wanda married Ken Taylor in 1974. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. In 2008, she won the award as Champion in the open division at the Harmon County Free Fair. She was Reserve Champion in 2010, 2011, and 2012. She won many blue ribbons at the fair for her vegetables and many pies and cakes. Her recipe for monkey bread was published in the American Profile Hometown Get Together Cook Book.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husbands, Don Monroe and Hugh Wolff, and two sons, Terry Monroe and Steven Wolff. Also, preceding her in death was a sister, Odie McKee and her spouse, Burt McKee, a nephew, Randy McKee, and two nieces-in-law, Roi Lee McKee and Rhonda McKee.
Wanda is survived by two sons, Jerry Monroe, his former spouses, Donna Monroe and Marsha Monroe, and Jeff Wolff and wife, Sue; grandchildren, Heather and Jesse Wolff, Stacey Wolff Keiffer and husband, Ethan, Nicole Wolff Pendergraft, Jeffery Wolff, Eric Monroe and wife, Rebecca and Heath Monroe; great grandchildren, Kinzie and Kamryn Keiffer, Jaden Pendergraft, Graf Kaskey, Preston and Pierce Monroe, and Maddie and Allie Monroe; a sister, Betty Squire and her husband, Jim; nephews, Mike Squire, Danny McKee and wife, Edwina, and Ronnie McKee; great nieces and nephews, Joshua McKee, Jamae McKee Ramsey and husband, Don, Kalle McKee, Kade McKee, Kole McKee and Randi Tucker and husband, Heath; great great nieces and nephews, Zoie and Sleyte Smith, and Evan, Ali, Kathryn, Gemma and Addilyn Tucker; and a niece-in-law, Betty McKee.
