Willie Merle Johnson, 80, Altus, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022 in Norman, Oklahoma. Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Rev. Darrell Willie officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The family will greet friends for a meal at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at 721 W. Martin Luther King Boulevard following the grave site ceremony.
Willie was born on October 17, 1942 in Altus to Theodore Roosevelt and Rosie Lee (Weaver) Johnson. He grew up in Altus and attended Lincoln Public School. He moved to Oklahoma City and worked for the City of Oklahoma City as a sanitation truck driver. Willie enjoyed fishing and hanging out with his nephew, Houston Waggoner, Jr. He reveled in working on cars and putting his mechanic skills to use. Willie was a member of the Wood Street Church of Christ in Vernon, Texas. He was a loving and kind father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Willie is preceded in death by both parents, Roosevelt and Rosie Johnson; two children, Donna Riles and Brandon Johnson; a stepdaughter, Greta Riles; three grandchildren, Brigite Johnson, Philip Johnson and Chandrica Johnson; a great grandchild, TréNique Johnson; and four brothers, Harry Johnson, W.G. Johnson, John A. Johnson, and his twin brother, Billy Johnson.
He is survived by his children, Willie Marie Johnson, Wilma Johnson, Mike Johnson and wife, Ella, Audrey Phillips, Willie Merle Riles, Jr. and wife, Yvonne, and Keith William Johnson; stepchildren, Pamela Lee, Kimberly Ellis, Tammy Johnson, Teresa Johnson, and Kristy Hardiman; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; three siblings, Elois Waggoner and husband, Buddy, TJ Johnson, and Donna Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone for their kind words and gifts in honor of Willie.
